ABOUT THE COURSE

Standard 11 Mines Induction is the standard for meeting the health and safety obligation in the coal mining industry in Queensland. Its purpose is to assist sites to establish and maintain a training system that delivers competent, safe and efficient work teams. The Standard 11 Mines Induction Course covers many of the safety requirements for working in the Mining Industry and will assist people who are working or looking to work in the mines in Queensland.

COURSE STRUCTURE

RIIRIS201D Conduct local risk control

Offers the skills and knowledge required to conduct local risk control in the Resources and Infrastructure Industries. This unit is appropriate for those working in operational roles.

RIIERR302D Respond to local emergencies and incidents

Offers the skills and knowledge required to respond to local emergencies and incidents in the Resources and Infrastructure Industries. This unit is appropriate for those working in operational roles.

RIIGOV201D Comply with site work processes/procedures

Offers the skills and knowledge required to comply with site work processes/procedures in the Resources and Infrastructure Industries. This unit is appropriate for those working in operational roles.

RIIWHS201D Work safely and follow WHS policies and procedures

Offers the skills and knowledge required to work safely and follow WHS policies and procedures in the Resources and Infrastructure Industries.

RIIERR205D Apply initial response First Aid

Offers the skills and knowledge required to apply initial response First Aid in the Mining sector. This unit is appropriate for those working in operational roles.

RIICOM201D Communicate in the workplace

Offers the skills and knowledge required to communicate in the workplace within the Resources and Infrastructure Industries. This unit is appropriate for those working in operational roles.

Standard 11 Mine Safety Induction (Surface) (TAE/DP)

The Standard 11 Mine Safety Induction (Surface) course provides training on the skills and knowledge required for working in surface coal mine and metalliferous mine operations, under the Queensland Mines Inspectorate's Recognised Standard 11.

About this short course

The Standard 11 Mine Safety Induction (Surface) course is suitable for new and experienced mine workers. The STD 11 Mine Safety Induction (Surface) course is delivered face-to-face or online; participants will be required to complete written and practical assessments over the duration of the induction. On successful completion of the training component, participants will be issued with a Statement of Completion, along with a mine induction ID card.

In addition to the training component of the mine induction, participants will be required to complete a mine on-site verification within 6 months of the training. On successful completion of the on-site verification, participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for the relevant units of competency, in addition to their final ID card.

The course includes the 6 nationally recognised units of competency required to meet the Standard 11 requirements for induction training:
  • RIICOM201D - Communicate in the workplace
  • RIIERR205D - Apply initial response first aid
  • RIIERR302D - Respond to local emergencies and incidents
  • RIIGOV201D - Comply with site work processes/procedures
  • RIIWHS201D - Work safely and follow WHS policies and procedures
  • RIIRIS201D - Conduct local risk control
Note: An additional competency is required for the Standard 11 Mine Safety Induction (Underground) .
