Diploma of Surface Operations Management


Diploma of Surface Operations Management (RII50120) reflects the role of mine managers in an open cut coal or metalliferous mine or a quarry. They perform tasks involving a high level of autonomy and require the application of significant justification in planning and determining the selection of equipment, roles and techniques for themselves and others. They are required to demonstrate the application of a broad range of technical, managerial, coordination and planning skills and implement safety management plans.

Our course has been designed for Quarry Managers and supervisors who are required to undertake recommended competencies. This course includes:

QM1 Units of Competency (Mandatory units for SSE Notice)

Emergency Management Module (NSW-Advanced Diploma)

Other Industry Units of Competency

Target Audience

This course specifically targets Supervisors or Quarry Managers who are required to make an application for their SSE Notice (QLD) or Practising Certificate (NSW) and all other Australian states.

Packaging Rules

Total number of units = 13

3 core units, plus

10 elective units, of which:

  • at least 4 must be from Group A
  • no more than 5 may be from Group B
  • no more than 2 may be from elsewhere in this or any other currently endorsed training package, or from an accredited course.
