RII40120 Certificate IV in Surface Extraction Operations provides training involving a broad range of varied activities. Supervisors are responsible for the quantity and quality of the output of others, contribute to the development of technical solutions to non-routine problems and apply safety management plans to the workplace.

Target Audience

This course specifically targets Supervisors or Quarry Managers who are required to make an application for their SSE Notice (QLD) or Practising Certificate (NSW).

Duration

6-24 months.

If currently employed within the industry, training can be conducted on your site*. You would participate in 4-6 sessions that run over a two-five day period depending on your level of experience.

Qualification Description

This qualification reflects the role of mine managers in an open cut coal or metalliferous mine or a quarry, who perform tasks involving a high level of autonomy and requiring the application of significant judgement in planning and determining the selection of equipment, roles and techniques for themselves and others.

They are required to demonstrate the application of a broad range of technical, managerial, coordination and planning skills and implement safety management plans.

No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

Entry Requirements

Participants who enrol in this course should be employed in a statutory position as per Department of Natural Resources and Mines Guidelines OR as an alternate for the abovementioned position description.

There are no other entry requirements.

Total number of units = 13

4 core units, plus

9 elective units, of which:

  • One (1) must be chosen from Group A
  • At least two (2) must be chosen from Group B
  • No more than four (4) may be chosen from Group C
  • No more than one (1) may be chosen from Group D
  • No more than two (2) may be chosen from elsewhere within this training package, or from antoehr endorsed training package, or from an accredited course.
